Western blot of His-tagged protein (vector pET 30C) using LABGEN's 6x-His antibody (Cat. No. 245-1181M). Whole cellular extract of BL21 (DE3) pJT4pTT9 bacteria carrying gene encoding for His-RelE protein (uninduced) (1), induced (2), induced (1/2 dilution) (3) and purified His-RelE protein
(~17 kDa). |
Antibodies to Epitope Tags & Fusion Proteins
| Inserting a known amino acid sequence as a tag to identify a protein of interest has become a common and useful tool in identifying new proteins. By using an antibody to the tag sequence, the researcher can then go on to utilize various protocols such as western blot, or immunoprecipitation based on the recognition of the tag, without having to raise an antibody to the specific protein. In addition, this same tag sequence can be used for purification protocols as well. LABGEN offers several useful antibodies to tags and fusion proteins. In addition many are conjugated to agarose to make IP or purification a straightforward procedure. |

Antibodies to M13 Bacteriophage Proteins
| The bacteriophage M13 forms the basis of cloning systems designed to introduce mutations into genes by insertion into the phage genome. M13 is a filamentous bacteriophage which infects E.coli hosts. There are ten named M13 genes-named by Roman Numerals I-X. Gene M13 VIII codes for the major structural protein found in the membrane. Gene M13 III codes for the minor coat protein. |
